Here painting, print, and sculptural construction explores ideas of memory, place and identity. The relation of imagery to abstraction is tested. Sometimes a work is inspired by text or poetry, and selected words may be embedded within its fabric, forming a ‘trace’ or ‘residue’; working process becomes a metaphor for memory.

Through my work I have sought to show that exactitude is not truth. There is hidden energy within all objects, people and places that a photograph cannot capture. I have explored this concept in my exhibitions, most prominently at the Royal Cambrian Academy where I have recently become the youngest ever member to represent Wales and to work under the patronage of Prince Charles.

As a child I grew up by Parys mountain on Anglesey, which sparked my artistic flair for landscape, colour and nature. I am a self taught artist who works in acrylics and water colour. I love experimenting with colour and enjoy painting.

Mine is a diverse practice which includes painting, photography, computer imaging and sculpture. By using abstraction, I try to create work that encourages the viewer to explore his own response without the guide given by a title.

Paintings by Welsh artist whose work is inspired by landscape and translated into colour field abstraction of mood and emotions, expressed through subtle density and translucency of colour on canvas.
